Who We Are

JESUS F. ESCAÑO DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (JEDCO) 

JEDCO is a family owned business established on April 1990 located in Cebu, Philippines. We are the leading purveyor of fine foods supplying quality imported meat, deli, poultry, seafood, frozen vegetable and dairy products to hotels and restaurants throughout Cebu and the rest of the central Philippine region and Mindanao. JEDCO products are also sold in various retail outlets and supermarkets throughout the Philippines.

History

Its humble beginning started in feeder cattle importation from Northern Australia and cattle fattening in Liloan, Cebu. In 1995, it expanded vertically and bought an existing butcher shop catering to uptown restaurants and resort hotels.

JEDCO Butcher Shop’s customer base also increased to include the food service sector (top restaurants and 3-5 star hotels) around Metro Cebu area supplying products from North America, Australia & Europe. It’s imported product line has expanded from fresh chilled meats from Australia, to frozen US Angus Beef, poultry, pork, sausages from the US, Canada and France.

In August of 2005 the company expanded its retail marketing strategy to include a delicatessen. DON MERTO’s Deli & Restaurant, (named after the owner’s paternal grandfather, DR. MAMERTO ESCAÑO- a prominent social & political figure in Cebu during his time) carried imported dry food items, fresh veggies, cheese, sausages, hams, cured meats as well as exotic and game meat & poultry (aside from the fresh chilled beefs, veal & lamb) are made available to the discriminating customers. In 2007, Don Merto’s Deli & Restaurant opened its second outlet in the central part of the city and a third location was opened in 2012. JEDCO products are also available in various supermarkets throughout the Philippines.

 

For the years 2010 and 2012, JEDCO was awarded by Robinsons Supermarket as the “Trade Partner of the Year Bronze and Silver Apple Award”– a recognition awarded for its exemplary performance across Robinsons Supermarket.

JEDCO is actively managed by Jaime Jose L. Escaño, or Jimmy, as he is fondly called, as President and Chief Executive Officer.
